THE CHRISTMAS BOOK BLOGGERS TAG
I love books and I love Christmas (as much as Halloween!) so I had to do this tag! Thanks to Trish over at Between my Lines for the inspiration! I’m not tagging anyone specific, but I’d love if some of you joined in with #ChristmasBookBloggersTag.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SCENE IN A BOOK?
I cheated and picked two moments, each as sweet as the other.
My first pick is from Anne of Green Gables when Anne receives her very first Christmas present in true ‘Anne with an E’ style.
“Merry Christmas, Marilla! Merry Christmas, Matthew! Isn’t it a lovely Christmas? I’m so glad it’s white. Any other kind of Christmas doesn’t seem real, does it? I don’t like green Christmases. They’re not green — they’re just nasty faded browns and grays. What makes people call them green? Why — why — Matthew, is that for me? Oh, Matthew!”
My second pick is the scene of Harry’s first Christmas at Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It gets me every time.
After a meal of turkey sandwiches, crumpets, trifle, and Christmas cake, everyone felt too full and sleepy to do much before bed except sit and watch Percy chase Fred and George all over Gryffindor tower because they’d stolen his prefect badge
DO YOU HAVE ANY CHRISTMAS BOOK TRADITIONS?
I love to read a special book by the Christmas tree lights. I have ever since I read one of my Mallory Towers books by the twinkling lights as a child. Last week I read Carmel Harrington’s Every Time A Bell Rings and re-reading that may become a Christmas book tradition!
DO YOU PREFER TO GET PRESENTS OF BOOK VOUCHERS OR BOOKS?
I love both! I just love anything bookish. 😁
DO YOU GIVE BOOKS AS PRESENTS?
Yes, I have been known to. I’m a book pusher 😉
WHAT BOOKISH ITEM IS ON YOUR CHRISTMAS WISHLIST?
Mmm.. I have really wanted a nice collector’s edition of Anne of Green Gables or The Stand for a long time now.
WHAT 3 BOOKS WOULD YOU LOVE SANTA TO HAVE IN HIS SACK FOR YOU?
I’d love a surprise!
FAKE CHRISTMAS TREE OR REAL CHRISTMAS TREE?
A nice, full 7 ft fake tree, accompanied by pine-cone smelling candles. 🎄 🎄
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT CHRISTMAS?
Spending time me with family and friends, Christmas has always been a big deal in my family and I love it! Also, my annual Christmas Eve date with my husband in our local pub. Five years ago, we had our first official date there on Christmas Eve and we return to the scene of the crime every year. 😁
WHAT CHRISTMAS BOOK WOULD YOU RECOMMEND?
An oldie, but a goodie – A Christmas Carol. Classic Dickens and it encapsulates the true meaning of Christmas.
WHAT DISH ON YOUR CHRISTMAS MENU ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO?
I love it all!!! But I’m a sucker for all the yummy vegetables and selection of potatoes! Roasties, mash and croquettes are a must!
WHEN DO YOU OPEN YOUR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS?
Christmas morning! I love unwrapping presents in my Christmas pyjamas by the tree.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SONG?
White Christmas by Bing Crosby, we grew up to Bing blaring in our house and car and I love all his Christmas songs. But, the most special Christmas song to me is Fairytale of New York by The Pogues. It was my Nan’s favourite song, it’s bittersweet hearing it but it’s played so much that she’s never out of our thoughts at Christmas time. 💖
ARE YOU DREAMING OF A WHITE CHRISTMAS?
No, it was all I wanted as a child, but it’s not half as romantic now that I drive! We had a lovely White Christmas a good few years ago. It was okay to drive in, we had snowball fights and it was so pretty. Unfortunately, the same year my sister was in Australia. She was crying down the phone and it wasn’t the same without her.
